TAWA FLAT DISPUTE
SETTLEMENT REACHED (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. ; A settlement of the dispute on the Tawa Flat railway deviation, as a result of which 120 tunnellers have been on strike since August 8, was announced to-day by Mr. A. Cook, general secretary of the New Zealand Workers’ Union. The men are to resume work on Monday morning. He said' that the Minister, the Hon. J. Bitchener, had agreed to pay £1 a shift to all the men engaged in the bad break fpr a fprtnight, which time was considered ample to finish the break. The Minister had also agreed to regard the men's holiday privileges as being not affected By their action in ceasing work during the period of negotiations. The conditions of settlement had been 'submitted to a full meeting of the men yesterday, and by a- large majority it had been agreed to resume work.
