Mr. George Anderson, a veteran, goldminer, celebrated his 103rd birthday at the Hokitika Old People’s Home last week. The Rev. L. G. B. Whitehead, minister of St. David’s Presbyterian Church, Terrace End-, Palmerston North, has received a unanimous invitation from the congregation of W allucetown Church, near Invercargill. High tributes wore paid to MrGeorge A. Duncan. Hawera, at _ a gathering at Wellington, when lie was presented with the New Zealand Society of Accountants’ gold medal for Ins thesis on “The Accounts, Finance, Costing of Dairy Factory Companies.” Memories of the early days in Auckland were recalled by Mrs. Martha Carter, Ponsonby, on Sunday, when she celebrated her ninetieth birthday. Mrs. Carter was born at Tamnki and is believed to bo the oldest living woman born in the neighborhood of Auckland. Mr. W. H. Dixon, L.R.A3L, A.R.0.M., musical director of the Royal Christchurch Musical Society and the Ashburton Choral Society, has been appointed vocal and instrumental judge at the Bendigo competitions, Australia, which will- be held in May next.
