“BEST BRAINS” LOST
The “exporting of the best brains in the country,” without offering an adequate inducement for their return after a period overseas, was deplored by Professor F. Sinclaire, of Canterbury College, in an address to members of the Workers’ Educational Association in Auckland. Professor Sinclaire, who spent a number of years abroad, returned to New Zealand about 18 months ago, and based his address on impressions gained in the latter period. “We are deliberately picking out our best men and sending them away,” Professor Sinclaire said. “We have, of course, imported many good men, but on the whole the export has been too heavy.”
