CARD PLAYER BREAKS NECK
HALIFAX, July 7. John Quinn, 60-year-old dock worker, het his fellow card-players yesterday that he would win tho next game or else turn a somersault. He lost the game and the party trooped out on to the verandah to watch him fulfil the wager. The somersault was half completed when Quinn slumped suddenly sidewise, unconscious. He was picked up and rushed to hospital. Physicians said lie had a broken neck and was suffering almost complete paralysis. His condition is critical.
