CENSURE MOTION
LOST IN N.S.W. ASSEMBLY MR. LANG’S CRITICISM SYDNEY, Aug.-29: In the Legislative Assembly to-day Mr. Lang, Leader of the Opposition, moved a censure motion, based ok the Government’s so-called disregard of the privations of the unemployed, and the filching of £3,000,000 from the wages tax fund and diverting it to the consolidated revenue, thereby depriving starving families of much needed sustenance.
The Premier, Mr.. Stevens, in. the course of his Toply, declared that the Government had actually spent £2,173,313 more than the previous year on unemployment relief. The remainder of Mr. Lang's ‘ speech, added Mr. Stevens, lacked trust <fnd real understanding of present problems. The motion was defeated on a party division by 53 votes to 24.
