POWER FOR LONDON
GREAT NEW STATION, PREVENTION OF, AIR POLLUTION (British Official Wireless.) Rec. 10 a.m. . RUGBY, Aug. 28. The first part of the great new power station at Battersea, London, designed* to generate power of 400,000 to 500,000 kilowatts, is expected to be finished in time to begin operations before the end of the year. It is built on a 15-acre site on the south bank of the Thames, and is the only station of its kind in which nitrate sulphur eliminating apparatus has been installed. This was evolved after large-scale-experiments by chemists and engineers, and was expected to prevent the pollution of London air. The apparatus satisfied the Government chemists of its efficiency.
