A pioneer associated with the early days of gold mining on the west coast of the South Island, Mr. Christian Emil Olsen, has passed away at Waiuku, Auckland. Deceased came from Denmark as a' young man and landed at Hokitika, which at that time was a tent village set amid the bush.
