NATIONAL DOUBLES BRILLIANT PLAY (EJeo. Tel, Copyright—United Press Assn,) (Received August 29, 11 a.m.) CHESTNUT HILL, Aug. 28. In the national doubles semi-finals. Shields and Parker defeated Vines and Gledhill, 6-3, 3-6, 3-6, 6-2. The match Lott and Stoeffen versus Quist and Turnbull, when 6—4, I—2, was postponed. The latter match commenced under lowering skies. The Australians led 3 —l, but their opponents drew level and then went ahead to 5—3. The Americans played brilliantly at the net and kept the Australians lobbing defensively on the back line." They ..were set point on Turnbull’s service in the ninth, but the Australians rallied and took the game. They were within a point of breaking Stoeffen’s service in the tenth to even the score, but the Americans were not to 'be denied and won the game and set. After three in the second set the, light became so bad that it was tlecided'do‘postpone- the match until;-to-< morrow. It had grown quite dark and rain seethed imminent.
