FRENCH STATION OPENED

PARIS, June 12.

M, Lebrun, the President of the Republic, to-day formally opened at Bromhmt (Aveyron) a combined dam and hydro-electric power station, which forms, it is claimed, the most important undertaking of its kind in Europe. The dam, which has been built across,a rocky gorge of the River Truyer.e, is, over 300 ft high and.about 700 ft wideband is designed to produce a volume of water rather greater than that provided/ by the Seine. Three separate turbines, of 42.000 h.p. each, will be used for. driving the generators, which will have : a mean output of 100,000 kilowatts. The new station will supply a largo part of Paris with electricity as well as the region immediately surrounding it.
