LONDON, June 15. One aspect of Mr. Esmond V. Harmsworth’s interesting speech at the meeting of Associated Newspapers has a wider significance which should not escape attention. During the second half of last year the revenue from advertisements was greater than anticipated. Newspaper advertising has always been, recognised as an, infallible barometer of trade, since the increasing requirements of advertisers represent a definite return of confidence. As Mr. Harmsworth said, increased advertising is the sign that selling activity and enterprise is meeting with greater response.
