Pickard, A. Hollis, L. Brync, C. Miller, J. Young, and C. Mead, linn, secretary, and Messrs. A. Wallace and C. 11. Anscll. Apologies for absence were received from Mrs Williamson, and Misses M. Barry, W. Paltridgc and B. Walker. Mr Wallace, of the grounds committee, reported that arrangements wore being proceeded with .satisfactorily. It was decided to repaint the gate and level the entrance, rather than incur the extra expense of renewing the gate altogether. At the last executive meeting it was decided to cover the courts with tarpaulins, the members having been assured -that this was .possible. Since .then, however, it has been proved impracticable, owing to the weight of tarpaulins required to cover such n large area. In order that games might be continued indoors in the event of wet weather, negotiations have been made to obtain the use of the Harbor Board’s shed. EXTRA COURT REQUIRED 'As there is a large number of entries in the minor section, it was considered advisable to have an extra hard court in readiness to preveilt any congestion in the playing of matches. It was decided to make application to the Kaiti School Committee .for use of the Kaiti 'School court, in case of emergency.

Quotations for the supplying and erection of marquees were presented and it was decided to accept the lowest tender, that of Mr. P. Hansen. The secretary reported that in connection with tho car drive for visiting teams on the Sunday afternoon, the Ormond and Waerenga-a-hika girls were willing to assist in the entertainment of visitors. They proposed that the teams motor to the tVaihirere Domain, where they would then bo the guests of the Ormond and 'Waerenga-a-hika teams at afternoon tea. The suggestion was considered a yery good one, all being in favor of it. The White Star Motor Company, in conjunction with the local companies, have offered their cars for the drive. INVITATIONS TO BALL A lengthy discussion took place regarding invitations of local players to the tournament ball. It was considered that the ball was solely for the purpose of entertaining the visitors, and that in accordance with the custom at all New Zealand tournaments, only the hostesses and the A and B Poverty Bay representatives be accorded invitations. In the event of a hostess not making use. of her invitation, it was decided that any local .player desiring to- be present could be admitted on that invitation. It was regretted that it was necessary to limit invitations, but no hall in* Gisborne could accommodate more than 500 people. Mrs. Cole reported that some difficulty was being experienced in obtaining the required Viupiber of billets, there being still about 40 required. A further appeal is to be made to all players, and Supporters of basketball to obtain the necessary accommodation for the visitors.

It was felt that Tuesday, August 28, the day prior to the commencement of the New Zealand tournament, would bo an opportune time for the Robson Cup match between Wairoa and Gisborne. Tho secretary was instructed 1 to make* the necessary arrangements with Wairoa for the match, n The members of the executive were .very pleased to hear that Mr. W. Harrington Miller was returning to Gisborne shortly, and it whs hoped that he would be able to be present at the tournament. A cordial invitation is to be extended to him. The following were appointed selectors of the. B grade representatives: Thursday. Mrs. P. Beale and Mr. G. H. Ansell; Saturday, Mrs. Williamson and Mr. It. Anderson. The question of choosing a mascot for the Povorty Bay representatives was left for the representative team to decide. Mrs. Beale's offer to donate tho mascot was accepted with acclamation. The remits to be considered at the New Zealand executive council meeting were read and discussed, and the delegates, Mrs. Sceats and-Miss L. Pickard, were instructed as to voting.
