RUGBY FOOTBALL
SATURDAY’S FIXTURES FRIENDLY GAMES AFOOT , A number of friendly games of Rugby football will Im played on various grounds throughout the district on Saturday, by club teams anxious to take every opportunity to improve their condition. The club competitions of the new season promise to make heavy demands on the condition erf players, and the teams which get the most practice in the next week or two have a good chance ol winning their competition matches during the early part of the official season. In preparation for the opening of the football season on April 29, a team representing Old Boys’ seniors will play Whatatutu in Whatatutu on Saturday next. Oars will leave the Gisborne Hotel at 1 n.m. The following players have been selected to make the trip : —!’. Dow, F. Martin, Jeffries, S. Slade, Coates, (1. Povock, A. Owen, Littler, Thomas, Harris, McPhail, L. Martin, Ancell, Barrett, McMahon, McLernoii, Monro, Eraser and Bong. For the Old Boys juniors and third grade teams, matches are being arranged at the, Oval for Saturday afternoon, the assembly of players being fixed for 2 o'clock. Other clubs are also interested in various engagements, and the weekend should be a busy one for the football grounds.
