A new saloon car, unlawfully removed from a parking area in Palmerston North, was found blazing in a. street m Feilding. The vehicle, which was owned by Mr, F. Raven, and was valued at £SOO, was totally destroyed.

A young man, William Cass, is back in hospital in Thames as a result of the capsizing of a motor lorry on Faster Monday, Mr. Cass, who was sulloring from painful injuries to his face, had only recently been discharged from the hospital after n motor accident, in which ho had received a badly injured knee. Sho was carried beyond her depth, and though a. strong swimmer, was rapidly swept out to sea by a fast current. She managed, to catch hold of some kelp that was clinging to the rocks, but with each succeeding wave she was severely buffeted and thrust under tho kelp, the latter winding round her head and shoulders, seriously impairing her chances of remaining afloat. Tho fact that sho kept a cool head, however, probably saved her life, and she was able to hold on until rescued by several men who formed a chain and brought her to shore.
