RETURNS FOR THE YEAR LARGE FAVORABLE BALANCE CP,.,- "Pi-rrs Association.) WELLINGTON, last night. Following are the recorded values of the oversea trade of New Zealand for the month of March, 1988. tho figures for the similar month last year being given in parentheses: —Ex ports from New Zealand, £5,39(5,278 (£3,682,4(38); imports into New Zealand £1,888,809 (£1,872,039). For the three months ended March, 1933, the figures are as follow: —Exports, £13,343,982 (£11,499,601); imports £5,574,637 (£5,849,283). The figures for the 12 months ended March 31, 1933, are:—Exports, £38,810,161 (£34,469,211); imports. £22,770,460 (£23,165,522).
The values recorded for exports arc declared f.o.b. values in terms of New Zealand currency while the. values recorded for imports arc current domestic values in the -countries ot export plus 10 per cent. ff the recorded value of imports is converted to the equivalent New Zealand currency, the excess of exports over imports (excluding specie imported or exported) for the financial year 1932-88, is about £12,450,000, compared with £9,182,000 the previous year.
