Long-Distance Telephony
I ONDON is practically the centre of the telephone systems of the world, as the telephone switchboard of the London G.P.O. in the terminal for four radio telephone channels from Now York and one each from Sydney (with an extension to New Zealand), Capetown, Buenos Aires, Rio dc Janeiro, Montreal, and Cairo. By means of lines to Amsterdam, Paris and Berlin, further long-distance telephone circuits to Java, French Indo-China, Siam and Venezuela are available, while there arc also circuits to some 15 ocean liners. All the point to point radio channels connect with extensive land line systems in Ihe various countries.
