MORE GISBORNE SUCCESSES Gisborne competitors were not quite so successful at the Napier Competitions on Monday night as they were on Friday and Saturday, but two more first prizes, as well as a number of other awards, were secured. , The main results of Gisborne interest wore as follows: Vocal solo, boys under 16.—Master Lance Rhodes (Napier j, 80 points, 1; Master Noel Mahon (Gisborne), 79 points, 2; Master W. Duusmore (Gisborne), highly commended. National song, ladies.—Miss Stella Bradfield, highly commended. Sean Truibhais, under 14.—Miss Eileen Curtis (Gisborne), 83 points, 1. Vocal duet, boy or girl under 12. — Masters Noel Mahon and William Dunsmore (Gisborne), 74 points, 1. National song, gentlemen. —Mr. D. Haw'thorne (Hastings), 80 points, 1; Messrs. David Lennox (Greenmeadows) and A. Allan (Gisborne), tie, 79 points.
Vocal solo, with accompaniment, boy or girl under 16.—Misses Heather McIver (Gisborne) and Cecil O’Halloran (Napier), Misses Phyllis Mortimer and Elsie Gilbert, Misses Joyce and Leslie Witters and Miss Eirene Halbert, highly commended.
Song in costume, boy or girl under 10.—Master Noel Mahon (Gisborne), highly commended. Recitation, Indies.—Miss Stella Bradfield (Gisborne), highly commended.
Recitation, gentlemen-—Mr R. Cheyne (Wellington), 1; Mr. L. Manning (Wairoa), 2. Vocal solo, girl under 18.—Miss Eireno Halbert (Gisborne), highly commended. Duet in character, under 16.—Misses C. O’HaUoran and FT. Melver (Napier), 105 points, 1; Miss S. Munro and Master N. Mahon (Gisborne), and Miss F. Steed and partner (Gisborne), highly commended.
