ATTACKED BY PIRATES
CHINESE CUSTOMS LAUNCH BRITISH OPPICER KILLED (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Received April 18, 10 a.in.) HONGKONG, April 17. A Chinese Customs launch, which struck a mudbank at low tide in the ehrly hours of the morning off Pang Chong Island, 15 miles off Macao, was attacked by pirates, .who shot Mr. Baldwin, a European officer. Mr. E. Pearce, the chief officer, is missing. Mr. Baldwin died of his wounds. The Chinese engineer and boatman were both injured. The launch is missing. Mr. Baldwin was formerly of the British Navy, and was the China fleet lightweight boxing champion.
