“CUT” OF £28,000,000
U.S. WAR DEPARTMENT ARMY PERSONNEL REDUCED (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Received April 18, 5 p.m.) WASHINGTON, April 17. A reduction of between 12,000 and 15,000 in the enlisted personnel of the Army and 2000 and 3000 officers is involved in tho War Department’s impending economy programme. The Army now has a strength of 117,000 enlisted men and 12.000 officers.
Tho President, Mr. Roosevelt, lias ordered a £28,800,000 cut in next year’s War Department expenses.
