STEEPLES TO SIMEON CHAMPAGNE TO IMPASTO 1 INCREASED SPECULATION (IVr Press Association.) AUCKLAND, last night. The Auckland Racing dub’s Easter meeting) was opened in fine weather. At the half-mile, Golden Wings was first into the straight from L’Allegro, Paganelli, Lordly Knight and Manawhenua, and stayed on to stave off a challenge by Manawhenua. In a great finish, Lordly Knight was third close up. Lady Quex and Inflation dead-heated for fourth, and were followed by L’Allegro, Champagne Stakes. —3-5 Impnsto (Tinker). 1; 4-5 Deputy Ruler (Parsons), 2; 2-2 D’Artagnan (Keesing), 3. Also ran: 5-4 Rereatu, 1-1 Princess Doreen. Won by a length ; half a length between second and third. Time, 1.26 3-5. Princess Doreen was the early leader from Impnsto and Deputy Ruler. Coming to the turn, Tmpasto displaced Princess Doreen. Rereatu then ran up entering tho straight, leading Princess Doreen, Tmpasto, Deputy Ruler and D’Artagnan. In tho run homo Impasto won comfortably from Deputy Ruler and D’Artagnan. Princess Doreen was fourth.

Mangero Steeplechase.—2-2 Simeon (Smith), 1; 1-1 Cal lam art (C. Thomson), 2: 8-8 Neil (J. Mcßae), 3. Also started : 4- Royal Reign, 3-3 Claremore, 8-6 Nassock. 7-4 Absent, 5-6 Creina’s King, 5- Arcade, 12-12 Romo, 10-10 Ruby Meteor, 11-11 Little Arch. Won by six lengths; four lengths between second and third. Time, 4.58. Absent and Domo were tho leaders until tho field came to tho hill tho second time, when Simeon and Callamart joined Absent. Simeon, Callamart and Neil ran down tho hill ahead of Arcade and Creina’s King, Simeon staying on for an easy win. Creina’s King was fourth. Onslow Stakes,—-2-2 Catalogue (Wiggins), 1; 10-10 Sea Fox (Tremain), 2; 3-2 Rapper (Duncan), 3. Also ran: 4-6 Coronis, 7-8 King Mestor, 5-4 Gold Pocket, 8-7 Star Artist. 6-5 Queen Nona, 1-1 Cherry King, 9-9 My Money. Won by one and a-half lengths; two lengths between second and third. Time, 1.15. Star Artist and Gold Pocket made the early running from King Mestor and Sen Fox. Gold Pocket fell back, leaving King Mestor, Star Artist and Sea Fox in command at the turn. Catalogue then came from a long way back to win nicely from Sea Fox and Rapper. Coronis was fourth. Eden Handicap.—7-6 Kiltown (Atkins). 1; 8-7 Royal Gallant (F.
