EXTENSIVE PROGRAMME

’ VICE-REGAL SAMOAN VISIT (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. An extensive programme has been arranged in connection with the visit of the Governor-General and Lady Bledisloe to Apia on April 19, writes the Press Association’s Apia correspondent. Th© programme includes the historic kava ceremony, a native reception and entertainment, the reception of citizens, the presentation of a loyal address, visits to - plantations and various schools, Samoan cricket and football matches, Samoan open-air firelight dancing, a citizens’ ball, and many other functions. The forthcoming Island cruise to be made by Lord and Lady Bledisloe aboard the H.M.S. Diomede will rnarrc the first occasion that a GovernorGeneral of the Dominion has travelled on a warship when pacing an official visit to-, the Pacific Islands. Their Excellencies will sail from Auckland on Tuesday Lat 3 p.m. for Nukualofa, arriving there on April 15. The Diomede v?ill leave on April 17 for Vavau, where cjie will remain from April 18 to 19. This will be an official vice-regal visit to Queen Salote, of Tonga. From Vavau, the Diomede will sail for Apia, where she will remain from April 19 to 24, w.hile His Excellency pays his first official visit to the mandated territory of Western Samoa. On April 24 Lord Bledisloe will pay a short official visit to the Governor of Pago Pago, American Samoa. The Diomede will then leave for Rarotonga, staying there from April 27 to 29, and she will arrive at Auckland os May 6.
