RECOVERY MUST COME
AUSTRALIAN’S CQN- ; FIDENCE FAITH IN NEW ZEALAND (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, last, night. An appreciation of the hospitality extended to him during his slay in Now Zealand, was expressed by Senator Massy Greene before his departure for the north to join the Sydney boat at Auckland. His only regret was that he had been unable to stay longer and see more of the “beauty and fertility of this wonderful country/' Senator Greene said thfjt On behalf of Mrs. Greene and members of the delegation, he. wished to express to the Government and the’ people of New Zealand his warmest thanks for tlie cordiality of the reception and the hospitality so generously extended. “In due time the results of our mission will become known," Senator Greene said. “I believe that apart altogether vfrom whatever may have been, achieved the opportunity of this visit has afforded an exchange of views to learn each other’s point of view, and cannot but be of benefit to both Dominions. We see far too little of each other. Perhaps it may be found possible in future to maintain a closer contract for our mutual benefit. I know that in common with the rest of the world, New Zealand is facing a most difficult situation, one
involving suffering and sacrifice on the part of a largo proportion of the people. Si ill, 1 hnvo every confidence that a country so predominantly British as New Zealand will emerge from these troublous times stronger, sounder and safer, and will garner a full measifre of the fruits of prosperity which we confidently believe will return to us in due*season. Just as the primary producing countries were the first to face reaction and de- . pression, so there is every hope that under a wise government they will be the leaders in the recovery, when it comes, as come it must."
