RUATORIA NEWS
(Herald Correspondent.) The Waiapu Dog Trial Club held a special meeting on Saturday to discuss the best place for holding the annual ball. Those present were Messrs. H. Boyce, J. D. Williams, AL O. Sullivan, William Gray, S. AlcCosty, and W. Barton. It was decided to hold the ball at. the hall at Te Puia Springs. It was also decided to have the distribution of prizes at Ruatoria. Owing to the supplies to the Ngatiporou dairy factory being maintained, the cream trucks are continuing witli the daily delivery. Up to the end of March the dairy company had manufactured 208 tons of butter more than in the corresponding period last season. It is proposed to hold another concert in Ruatoria in aid of the X-ray fund of Te Puia Hospital. An endeavor is being made to obtain the services of Sir Apirana Ngata to lead the haka in “Scenes from the Past,” which was composed and performed on various occasions by the Native Alinister. If the Alinister’s services can be obtained, there is no doubt that a record attendance will be obtained.
The Ruatoria Rodeo Club has preparations well in hand and a most successful meeting is anticipated. The steers for use will not be in such good condition as those used in the last rodeo, and better exhibitions are hoped for. The public of the district are now taking a keener interest in their township, and from remarks made it can be predicted that a footpath, which is a real necessity, will be laid down in the near future.
