I PARISHIONERS OBJECT j ~ | When the parishioners of the Ilalkett Presbyterian charge heard that a 1 call was coining from VVaipukumu to their minister, the Rev. Thco. Paterson, they met. and expressed the unanimous hope that Mr Paterson would jut- leave the charge. When the call , < a ■!e before the Cliristyliuirl) Presbytery a deputation attended as commissioners from Halkett to urge the . wishes of the congregation that Mr Paterson should stay there. The commission said that the meeting at Halkott had been very representative and 1 the decision was emphatic. The con- , gregation would do all in its power to > retain him. Mr Paterson had said that he would not act against the , wishes of the people of his charge. The Presbytery resolved that the call should not be placed in Mr Pater,son’s hands. I ■ I» " ■■ ..
