TOUCHED LIVE WIRE

PAINTER ELECTROCUTED (Per Press Association.) HAWERA, last night. .About 2;30 o'clock this afternoon a painter, R. J. Squire, 70, mot his death by electrocution. He -was working on the top verandah of a house when he came in contact with tno electric light house connection wires. Death was apparently instantaneous. 'The deceased was observed lying across the wiro.s, ami when taken down was found to have a flesh bum 7in. in length on the side of the neck. The house connection wires were fbund to be devoid of protective covering from the terminals to the-porcelain conduit leading into the house. Fresh paint was observed on the woodwork near the wires, and it is presumed that the deceased was painting that, portion of the building 011 his knees, and that Iris hand touched the* wires. Squire ilad resided in Hawera for some 50 years.
