The North Island tennis championships were virtually concluded to-day in ideal weather,* >C. E, Malfroy wrested the men’s singles title from th'p holder, R. A. Gourt. The loser played a good steady game, but was not in Malfroy’s class. Miss Whyte retained the ladies' title against Miss Howell, who was defeated after a closely-contested second set.
