CUTS IN SALARIES
FREE STATE CIVIL SERVICE PROTESTS AGAINST PROPOSAL (Received Jan. 3. 11 a.m.) LONDON, Jan. 2. Mr. Norton, leader of the Free State Parliamentary Labor Party, with trade union officials, visited Mr. Do Valera and protested against the inadequacy of the offer of the Government to suspend the proposed cuts in the Civil Service salaries so far as small salaries were concerned. Mr. De Y r alera is adamant against a further concession. Mr Norton says apparently there is no hope of a settlement. The postal workers will probably strike next week.
