PERSIAN OIL DISPUTE BRITISH WARSHIPS STAND BY (Elec. Tel. Copyright— United Press Assn.) (Received December 9, 12 noon.) LONDON, Dec. S. The newspapers attribute the Persian oil dispute to Soviet influence. The Daily Mail says that Soviet emissaries for 12 years have been inciting Persia to confiscate the oil fields.
JI.M.S. Hawkins is proceeding to the Persian Gulf. The Enterprise has arrived at Karachi and is remaining there. The Emerald was due to spend Christmas at Calcutta but was ordered to Bombay. The officers’ leave is cancelled.
