AFFAIRS OF A COMPANY
REFERENCE IN PARLIAMENT Mention of the affairs of the New Zealand Refrigerating Company was made in the House of Representatives by Mr. C. L. Carr (Labor Timaru). Mr. Carr gave notice of lrs intention to ask the Minister of Agriculture whether his attention had been drawn to a newspaper report that five officers if the company had received over a period of 10 years £256,000 in emoluments, while the shareholders received in dividends in the same period £261.000.
He also asked the Minister if lie would ascertain if one of the officers was a member of the Ottawa delegation, and if the figures quoted accounted for the company’s policy of reduced wages, increased freezing charges, and lower prices for stock.
