Beautiful weather favored the opening of the fishing season. Visiting anglers took advantage of the genial weather conditions and pitched their camps on the banks of the river. Numerous good catches have been made, and the fish are reported to be plentiful and of good size. A noticeable feature of this season’s fishing is the number of youthful enthusiasts who are plying the rod. The Waioeka River is becoming increasingly popular with anglers from near and far.

Shearing operations .are now xaompleted. Farmers have every reason to lie satisfied with this year’s wool clip, for it is in splendid condition. The mild winter has been responsible for an abundance of feed everywhere and stock have never appeared to better advantage.

Those farmers interested in' dairying are making good progress and are to be congratulated upon the excellent quality of tlieir output.

The school vacation commences on December 16 and parents and children are eagerly looking forward to the breaking-up ceremony.

The Misses Hay, Gisborne, are spend ing a.short holiday with Mrs. F. Mead.
