AFTER 2000 YEARS
CALIGULA’S SECOND GALLEY RAISED ROME, Oct. 17. The charred black hulk of the second of the Emperor Caligula’s galleys has been recovered ironi Lake Nemi, where is has lain submerged for nearly 2000 years. It is now Doing slowly moved up an incline plane to the hut destined to dielter it temporarily on the eastern shore. A permanent museum is to be built when funds allow. For four months work has been proceeding on the strengthening of the timber, and it has been impregnated with bituminous preparation to arrest further decay. The ship has been greatly damaged by the work of grapplers and diver at various times since the 15th century in bringing ,ip the bronze works of art now in the National Museum in Rome, and in part elsewhere.
