The clanger of throwing loose paper about the roads was demonstrated yesterday morning when there occurred an accident which might have been attended with more serious results. Two Maori lads, double-banked on a horse, were proceeding to the I’alutahi School from Waitui, whim, on rounding a bend in the road at Ttepongaere, the horse took fright at a piece of paper blowing along m the wind, breaking the girth, and luu'cating its riders, who were thrown heavily on to the roadway. The Hawke’s Bay Education Board forwarded a cheque for £6 19s Id, being its share of the cost of repairing flic boundary fences of lire school residence. The headmaster’s report was adopted. The school roll was 159., the average attendance for the past four weeks being 1.47.4. A new pump had been fitted to the school well in place of one loaned by the Domain Board. A considerable area of the playground had been mown and the hay stacked. Miss Perkins returned from sick, leave on November .21. The Education Board’s agricultural instructor advised that the judging in connection with the school calf club would take place at 10 a.ni. on Tuesday, Dec. 13. A cordial invitation was extended to parents and friends. Arrangements were well in hand for the annual school picnic, which would be. hold on the local domain on Thursday, December 15. A comprehensive programme of athletic events had been drawn up and the luncheon arrangements were left in the hands of a committee of ladies,
