POLITICAL GOBLINS
The Chicago Tribune published a politico-Halloween cartoon the other day. It showed the American voter standing in an attitude of indecision and terror by tho side of a road. Above tlie fence to one side of him towered a horrific ghost which bade him “Beware tho Democrats.’’ And to the other side was an equally horrific ghost which warned him to “Beware tho Republicans.” The moral, of course, was too plain to be mistaken. Neither ghost consisted of much more than a lighted pumpkin on a stick. The heads were equally empty and the warnings equally valueless,
