NEW MINING VENTURES A mining engineer, Mr. G. W. Thomson, of Dunedin, who returned to Wellington by the Marama from a business visit to Australia, said he had been fortunate in interesting an influential group of mining people in various projects and arrangements had 'been made for experts of Australian companies to visit New Zealand with a view to cooperating in the development of several of these large mining projects. “In my opinion the co-operation of these Australian interests will mean a liig thing in tho development of new mining areas for this country, as undoubtedly Australia to-day is in the forefront as regards the handling of large mining ventures,” added Mr. Thomson.
