GOOD PROGRESS MADE
WORK OF PARLIAMENT ADJOURNMENT TO-MORROW (Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day. Better progress than was generally expected was made by Parliament yesterday. -although at one stage oi the, proceedings it seemed likely that the sitting would he prolonged far beyond midnight. It is now. definite that the House can adjourn to-morrow. The whole of the business the Government had decided to put through was finished threequarters of an hour before the usual time of rising. The Fire Brigades Amendment Bill, the Cook Islands Amendment Bill, and the Native Land Amendment Bill were passed. Five new Government measures were introduced—the Finance Bill, New Zealand Loans Bill, Waitangi National Trusts Board Bill, Property Law Amendment Bill, and . Reformatory Institutions Amendment Bill.
It is the. intention to deal with these measures, as well as the supplementary estimates, to-day. -The House will sit at 110.30 to-morrow in order to deal with local bills .and complete the programme before Christmas.
