GISBORNE CLUB EVENING COMPETITIONS For club handicap events to be conducted at the Macrae Baths this evening, by tho Gisborne Surf and Swimming Club’s officials, the following handicaps have been announced: —

The. officials of the Gisborne club are engaged with the final arrangements for the Gordon Bridson carnival on Saturday evening, at which the Auckland and New Zealand champion will be the principal figure. Bridson is reported from Auckland to be swimming with wonderful dash, and to be approaching the top of his form. New records for the Macrae Baths may be established when he appears at the first carnival of the season in Gisborne. The carnival has attracted first-class entries, and tbo lists will not close until to-morrow evening. No late entries will bo received, the committee has decided.
The Miller Gup handicap race across the Haiti basin is another event of importance to the club members and officials. this being set down for Monday evening. Entries for the race will close on Friday, and no late entries will be accepted.
