WAGE BETTER THAN OWNERSHIP WORCESTER (Eng.), Oct. 6, The desperate plight of agriculture has been brought home to the civic authorities here with striking emphasis. The health committee of the council recently advertised for a cowman at two pounds a week. Among the applicants .were many local fanners who declared that they preferred the small but steady income to the anxiety and almost inevitable loss which farming at the present day entails. Other applicants included teachers from agricultural colleges and farm bailiffs. Moro than 100 applications were received.
