Although, no .official announcement was made as to the success of the robot battleship, reports wore that the planes scored live direct hits out of 30 bombs dropped.
Controlled bv the destroyer Dobbin from a distance, of-several miles, the Utah was put through, a series of zigzag manoeuvres in an attempt to avoid the attack. Wire-filled bombs were used, and (lie planes flew at an altitude of 10,(,)()(),ft. The attack ups the, first of a series scheduled for the Utah. Next month the'U.R.R. Uennsylvaiiia will attempt to, locate ami '‘sink” the vessel.
