FAMOUS CATHEDRAL
TO BECOME A THEATRE MOSCOW, Nov. 1. St. Isaac’s Catliimlnil at Leningrad, in former days the most, fashionable ■and luxurious of all; Russian churches, will he transformed, in part, into an anti-religious theatre, Pravda annouiicod yesterday. Built in the shape of huge cross and crowned by an enormous gilded dome 380 ft. high, i’t is made chiefly of Finnish' red granite and marble, the main, entrances form, four porticoes modelled on the Panth,eon alt Rome, f The church cost £2,400,000 and was famous for both its rich interior decorations and for its impressive farad,e. .Front the dome may be obtained perhaps the best view possible of Leningrad and its environs.
