OFFICIAL PARTY COKING CONFERENCE ON MONDAY INSPECTION OF AIAIN SCHOOL Education matters generally will bo discussed at a conference of heads of the Education Department and local s committees on Monday evening. The Director of Education, Air T. B. Strong, the chief inspector of schools, Air Lambourne, -and the department’s architect. Air Savage, accompanied by the chairman of the Hawke’s Bay Education Board, Air G. A. Maddison, and the board’s architect. Air Boland, will be in Gisborne on Monday to consider what changes, if any, should be made in comietcion with educational facilities in this district in regard to secondary, technical, and primary education, and, secondly, to decide what alterations' and repairs should be made to the Gisborne Central Schol and Atangapapa infants’ school building, Injth of which were affected by the recent cart hqnake. It is ■anticipated that the official party will visit the High School in the morning, and in the afternoon will visit the five town schools, Gisborne Central, Manga papa, Haiti, To Hapara, ami Awapuni. At 7.30 'p.m. on Monday a conference of the High 'School Board of Governors and flic sub-committee of the Education Board will be held to discuss with the director what changes should lie made in connection with education generally in -this district. The chairmen of the five town school committees have been invited to attend the conference.
An early decision in regard to the alterations and repairs to be Tindertaken at the Gisborne Central aud Maagapapa schools is regarded as imperative, in view of the fact that the work must be carried out during the vacation.
