On-'Wednesday’evening . a musical iestival, tho cathedral choir and Harmonic Ssocibty combining to give Mendelssohn’s ‘Hymn of Praise. A day of intercession and thanksgiving m connection with the missions of the Church will be observed on .Thursday, and tho ceremonies will he brought to u close on Sunday, December 11. The first service in the cathedral after the dedication will be the Toe II birthday festival on Saturday evening. This will be attended by the Governor-Gen-enii, who nas consented to take the “Ceremony of eight,” which is the central part of the service. On this late the Prince of Wales will light the lamp of the Nelson branch at a festival to be held at the Town Hall, Birmingham. This lamp is to bo dedicated to tho memory of tho late Major dames Bmilker, of the New Zealand Expeditionnn Force, and formerly of Nelson. The granting of a lamp is the symbol of the promotion of a unit ot Toe If from the status of a group to that of a branch, a promotion conferred only ivhen a unit has proved that it is finnlv establisned and is really performing the service to the community that i* expected of it.
