An Order-in-Counoil consenting to the raising of a loan of £33,000 bv the Franklin County Council has been gazetted. The loan is for the purpose of meeting the council’s share of the cost of realignment, reconstruction. and 'permanent surfacing of the council’s section of the -Great South road main highway, including the Bombay Hills deviation. Awakened by the barking of his dog at his bedroom window at 2.15 a.m. on Thursday, Mr B. D. Scgrave, of Pukemiro Junction, Huntly, arose to make investigations and discovered his house in flames. Ho awakened his wife,, and with their eight-months-old baby, tliev escaped through the window. Two other children who were .asleep in a room at. the back of the house were quickly rescued. The house was completely destroyed.
