NOVEMBER RAINFALL . ONLY 51 POINTS RECORDED November is often a dry month in Gisborne, but only on one previous occasion since records have been taken over the past 54 years has less .rain fallen in November than the total recorded for last month. The Gisborne gauge measured only 51 points for the month on six days. The rainfall for the year to date is well ahead of that for the corresponding period of the preceding two years, which, however, were very dry ones, hut unless there' is a phenomenally wet December this years gauging will be below the nvorage. If the average for the year is not exceeded it will be the fourth year in succession that the rainfall has bailed to come up to this standard. The Te Ivaraka rainfall for the month was substantially more than at Gisborne, and l.oOin. was recorded on- eight days, on four of which there was a fall of approximately a quarter of an inch. Iho total was well below the average for the month, 2.18 in.
