NEW WORKS IN BRITAIN BID FOR LOST TRADE LONDON, Nov. 30. Great new English works are about to be erected by .Stewart Lloyds, Limit-, ed, at Corby, Northamptonshire, at a cost of £3,300,000, for the purpose of restarting the manufacture of basic Bessemer steel. Bessemer steel was originally manufactured in Britain, whief! is now dependent on America and other foreign countries. it. is hoped that Stewart Lloyds will enable Britain to regain independence. As a result of the Ottawa Conference, an 'American company operating in Canada, has ordered 1,000,000 boxes of tinplates.
