ROUND N.Z. BY PLANE

BUSINESSMAN’S TOUR BRIEF VISIT TO GISBORNE COMMERCIAL VALUE OF FLYING The increasing use made of aeroplanes at Home for commercial purposes is a feature which impresses most New Zealand visitors to the Old Country, and it is interesting to note that an English manufacturer finds the aeroplane an equally efficient and economical means of transport in New Zealand. The English traveller is Mr R. F. B. Worth, who this morning concluded a flying visit, in both senses of the word, to Gisborne. When he reaches Auckland to-day Mr Worth will have completed a tour of New Zealand bv air, having paid business visits to the cities and principal towns of both islands. As passenger in a plane flown by Captain J. I). Hewitt, Mr Worth landed at the Gisborne aerodrome yesterday morning, and after completing the 'business which brought him here, left by the same machine for Auckland at 10.1 d o’clock 'this morning.

The number of small towns in New Zealand with aerodromes and flying clubs has greatly surprised Mr Worth in the course of his tour, and one' of the impressions he has gained is that the Dominion has made more rapid strides than England in the development of the systeni, of aero eliilwufor the instruction of civilian pilots. • lit is unable to understand, however, why aviation is not more widely used for business purposes in this, country. Referring to his own Dominion tour, Mr Worth remarked that taking into account the time saved, and the reduction of hotel expenses, the trip was not a costly one. The habit of chartering planes for business trips is growing steadily in England, he said, and for Continental travel it is by far the best method of moving about, being restful, clean, and comfortable. Mr Worth dots a considerable amount, of flying at Home with the Bristol and Wessex Flying Club, for his amusement.

The flight from Auckland to Gisborne yesterday was much enjoyed by ■Mr Worth, who was delighted with the over-changing nature of the country over which the machine passed.
