POPE'S RAILWAY STATION MARBLE RECEPTION HALL VATICAN CITY, Oct. 20.' Tho Vatican City railway station will ho officially handed over in about a week by the Italian Government, at whoso expense it was constructed: in accordance with tho Lateran Treaty. It will be unique of its kind in the world, having: No time-table. No booking-office or public accommodation; and For the time being, at least, no rolling-stock. Tho reception hall is of great magnificence, being paved and inlaid l with precious marble. Four huge marble monoliths support tho roof, fountains play on tho terraces and in the square in front. _ _ Full accommodation is provided within for tho Papal Court, the College of Cardinals, and the Diplomatic Corps, A Btationmaster, whose post would seem likely to bo somothing of a sinecure, will be provided by the Italian State Railways, which will also supply tho rolling-stock when the station is used. . The cost of the station is believed to have been about £150,000.
