The Ladies’ Guild of Trinity Methodist Church, Wairoa, will hold a sale of work at tho week-end in aid of tho church funds.

The t.hiul of the series of races for the Grand Cafe Cup in connection with tlio Wairoa Homing rigeon Club resulted in another win for Mr. G. Zakris’ Bone Dry, the placings being: G. Zakris’ Bone Dry, lhr. 37min., 1; Kuong Shoe’s Sun Yat Sen, lhr. 47min., 2; V. Fraser’s Little Eric, lhr. 49min., 3.’ There were 14 starters for the event on Wednesday, and it seems impossible that Mr. Zakris can miss gaining the trophy, tho points being: Zakris, 9; Y. Fraser, 4; Kuong Slice, 3; G. Brown, 1 : and A Hedley, 1. Only one more event has to be flown to decide the winner, and that will be from Tolaga Bay on December 14.

Mr. S. Craig, New Zealand general manager of Paramount Films, Limited, is visiting Wairoa. —Miss B. Pemberton, of the Post and' Telegraph Department, Auckland, is staying with her aunt, Mrs S. Summerfield, North Clyde.

At Monday night’s meeting of the Golf Club feeling reference was made to the death recently of Airs. A. J. Anderson, one of the most popular and active members of tho club. V. Chamberlain, re-elected, J. Carroll and R. M. Mowat; club captain, Mr. R. Treyor Smith, re-elected; match secretary, Mr. A. 0. Jones, reelected ; lion, auditor, Mr. R. W. Chaplin ; general committee, Messrs. D. H. Hudson. R. Macdonald, K. Winiata, all re-elected, C. Cullen and J. P. Moore.

The important announcement was made that the next Maori championship meeting would tie held in Wairoa m September, 1933. Mr. A. T. Carroll had worked very hard to secure this, and it would tend greatly to popularise the game in Wairoa. It was stated that Mr. Carroll and his committee had the work well in hand, and a hearty vote of thanks was accorded to him for his efforts. The presentation of trophies won last season was made by the president, assisted by the ladies’ club captain, Mrs. Perry, and at the close a tasty supper was provided.
