THAMES .CAUSES ANXIETY

Exceptionally high tides and strong, squally winds, with gusts from 60 to r ;0 miles an hour, caused considerable anxiety last night owing to the danger of the' Thames overflowing. Emergency measures were taken to deal with the possibility, and a watch was kept in the early hours of the morning, but the tide passed the full without damage.
