UMPIRES’ ASSOCIATION APPOINTMENTS POE SATURDAY The fortnightly meeting of the Poverty Bay Cricket Umpires’ Association was held last evening, when appointments for the next scries of matches were made. The Rev. W. J. Elliott presided, and there were present also Messrs. G. Price, W. Sharp, W. Town, jun., C. L. Lord, T. Sharp, J. Jennings, F. J. Mace, O. R. Olsen, C. Smyth, and G. V. Lynex, hon. secretary. Mr Elliott mentioned that during a recent visit to the south lie had made the acquaintance of Mr Lusk, tho newly-appointed president of the New Zealand Cricket Council, and had conveyed to him the association’s congratulations on his appointment. Umpires were appointed as follow: — ■Seniors. —Turanganui v. Gisborne Club, Messrs. G. V. Lynex and A. Guthrie; Civil Service v. Old Boys, Messrs. W. J. Elliott and F. J. Mace; City v. High School, Messrs. T. Sharp and C. Smyth.

Second grade.—Marist v. Athletic, at the Oval, Messrs. G. Price and W. Sharp. Reserve umpire.—Mr W. Town, ;jun.

The R.S.A. team to meet Nomads, in to-morrow’s Thursday competition match under the Poverty Bay Cricket Association, will.comprise G. C. Clifton, O. R. Olsen, C. O’Connell, J. Barbour, G. Graham, F. H. Graham, E. B. Topp, D. J. Duncan, G. G. Winter, 11. Lee, E. Harvey, and W. Bury.
