A SUCCESSFUL YEAR alterations or rules THE ANNUAL MEETING The annual meeting of the Tovevty ~ Lav Kennel Club was held m the A. “and P. Association’s rooms last night. In the absence of the vice-president, Mr. G C. Clifton, Mr. T. Smale was elected -to the chair. There was a fair attendance of members and the business of the meeting attracted keen interest. “Personally speaking, I think it is a credit to tho officials of the club for them to be able to show such, a sound balance-sheet,” remarked the chairman iri moving tho adoption of the report and balance-sheet. “There are very few clubs,” be concluded, “which in times such as these are able to show a credit balance at all.” The ' report and balance-sheet were adopted. On tho motion of Mr. Jones it was decided to have separate officers to carry out the duties of secretary and treasurer. Smale; secretary, Mr. E. Goodwin ; treasurer, Mr. G. C. Clifton; committee, Messrs. V. Nossitev, F. Cuten. R. Williamson, C. F. Cudd, F. Erickson, I>. Jones, N. Davis, W. Robertson, and B. Gardner. As the number of nominations for the committee did not reach the number set out in the rules, members were given power to add to their number should they see fit. DOG. TAX TOO HIGH

Members generally contended that the present dog tax charged by the Borough Council was too high, and appointed the committee as a deputation to wait on the council with a view tb obtaining a reduction. Mr. D. Jones was elected to the position of show manager. Several members considered that ii was up to the club to send a delegate to the next conference of the New Zealand Kennel Club and to pay his or her expenses. It was decided to do this and to have a definite set of proposals drawn up and fully discussed by members before the delegate left Gisborne. It was resolved to donate a box of chocolates to every exhibitor, excluding the winners, in the children’s class at tho last Show. The presentation of cups won by club members at the last Show was carried out by the chairman. Winners were as follow :—Best working Alsatian, Mrs. AT. A. Black: best sporting dog, Mr. N. Davis; best dog or bitch owned by club member for the year 1931, Mr. V-: Nossiter; best grey-hound, Air. N. Davis (cup won outright!; best non-sporting dog or bitch, Mr.' E. Goodwin; best Sealyhain terrier,' Airs. G. W. King; best dog or bitch. Air. N. Davis; best opposite sex. Air. F. Redfearn; best dog or‘bitch under 12 months, Air. F. Redfearn; best terrier. Air. F. Redfearn; Poverty Bay Kennel Club Cup, members only, Mr. N. Davis. AMENDMENTS TO RULES

It was agreed to make the aftinual subscription of 5s payable on or before March 31 of each year, or on election. It was decided, also on the motion of Mr. Jones, to delete the word “shad, appertaining to the rule governing attendance at, meetings, and to substitute “may,” making it read: “Any member of the committee absenting himself for three consecutive meetings may forfeit his seat thereon."
