MANCHESTER UNITY LODGE

EKECTION Or OFFICERS Manchester Unity Oddfellows, Loyal Gisborne Lodge, 6087, held its quarterly summoned meeting! last night, Sister A. W. Niven, N.G., presiding over a good attendance. The secretary reported on the recent death of Bro. C. E. Kirk, who lor the past three years had been on the sick fund ; a motion of deep sympathy with the bereaved widow and daughter was carried. Great interest was taken in the. election of officers, no less than three ballots being necessary before the position of elective secretary was filled. The following were elected : —Sister E. M, Bickford, N.G.; Bro. C". F, Stubbs, V.G. : Bro. A. J. Kearns, E.S. ; Sister A. W. Niven, 1.P.N.G.; supporters are. to be appointed by the various officers to take their scats with the newly installed officers on next lodge night. _ It was resolved that, a past officer s collar be obtained and presented lo Bro. R. W. Wallen, I.P.N.G. Bro. J. A. Vagg was the recipient of a small present for his services as-organist during the year. . . • A report on a proposed visit to Wairoa, Loyal Te Reinga Lodge, was received, and after considerable discussion it was decided to write thanking’ the Waivoa lodge for its invitation, hut stating that owing to the prevailing conditions the visit would he postponed until a more suitable occasion. The secretary reported on the great trouble experienced in securing; members’ certificates prior to them resuming work, and pointed out that the rules o< the lodge would have to be. enforced After a full investigation, it was resolved that- any mem her resiuniun- work without being declared off the sick fund by the medical officer would bo fined in accordance with general rule 132 clause 6.
